Distribution & Habitat:

Southern Uganda, around Jinja, and Lake Victoria, where it grows on exposed granite outcrops.

Description:

A large, clumping cycad, with 4-6 trunks, up to 5m long. Has narrow, dark green leaves up to 3.5 long, and usually held erect. Sometimes developes a a very striking yellow rachis.

General:

Plants are threatened by cultivation, and don't appear to be regenerating.

Culture:

Sunny, moist, but well drained position. Vigorous grower.
