===Climatic Data:=== As there is no Weather Bureau Station in close proximity to the stands in the Macleay River Valley, we have used climate details for Armidale as a guide to those populations. Climate details for Taree have been used as a guide to the Manning River Valley populations. Armidale, which is located on the Great Dividing Range, with an elevation 980 m, has an annual average rainfall of 791 mm (spread over 81 rain days), with the maximum temperature rarely exceeding 35°C, but falling below 0°C on an average of 34 days annually. Long term records indicate that the highest maximum temperature recorded in Armidale was 36.5°C, while the lowest minimum temperature was -9.3°C. According to an Internet report titled "Snow in Armidale" (updated 20 November 2007), snow falls at Armidale on an average of two days per year (down from three days in the early 1960"s), while the annual average number of frosts was reported as having risen from 91 (in 1981) to 100. On the other hand, Taree (elevation 18 m at the Weather Bureau Station) sits astride the Manning River, not far from the ocean. Taree has an annual average rainfall of 1177 mm (spread over 113 rain days) with the temperature exceeding 35°C on an average of 3 days per year and falling below 0°C on an average of 10 days per year. Temperature records for the past 39 years indicate that the highest temperature recorded at Taree was 45.3°C in 2004 and the lowest temperature recorded was -5.0°C in 1970. Mt George is situated approximately 30 km west of Taree.
