Dypsis 'White Triangle'

Figure 1.

Common Names:

The White Triangle Palm

Habitat:

Madagascan rainforest ????

Description:

A very striking palm, obviously very similar to the Triangle Palm D. decaryi, however with a white crownshaft. It is now thought to be a hybrid between D. decaryi, and D. cabadae

General:

This palm came into Australia in the mid-late 1980's, as part of a batch of standard triangle seed. Apparantly about 6 plants have been tracked down, altho none have yet seeded.

Seedlings of this palms are now however starting to turn up on various palm dealers lists, so its origins must have been discovered.

Figure 2.

Culture:

Again, it requires very similar conditions the the standard triangle, however, it has proved to be not quite as vigorous.
