This species is now considered to be V. arecina.

Common Names:

Sunshine Palm

Conservation Status:

Not threatened

Distribution & Habitat:

Grows in moist rainforests on the island of Vanuatu in the New Hebrides.

Tall solitary pinnate palm to 15m tall. Obviously very similar to V. arecina, the main differences being that the leaves have a relatively small number of rather broad leaflets, and they are almost always slightly inclined above the horizontal. It also has the most compact canopy of the taller Veitchias.

As for V. arecina
