Dwarf Jata Palm
Distribution & Habitat:
Grows in serpentine soils on the savanna in eastern Cuba.
This palm is the smallest Copernicia, only growing to about 2m. It has stiff, waxy, green fronds, which are whitish underneath, and have a very short petiole. The dead leaves form a skirt around the trunk.
Full sun in a well drained position. Very slow growing. Drought tolerant.
