Common Names:

Caryota 'Mountain Giant'

Distribution & Habitat:

Himalayan foothills

Description:

A massive palm, to about 20m high, and up to 2m across at the base. It also has rounded leaflets, as opposed to the standard Caryota bat shape (see Figure 1).

Culture:

Full sun, well drained position. Very cold tolerant, but unfortunately not nearly as fast growing as some of the more tropical Caryotas.
