Arenga sp. 'Padang'

Distribution:

Central west Sumatra

Habitat:

Open forest.

Description:

A medium sized, solitary palm.

General:

We saw this palm just outside Padang, on the west side of Sumatra, growing by a small stream. I have no idea what species it is, or even if it is an Arenga, but it was very attractive, and growing in a beautifully picturesque position. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.
