Dypsis "Orange Crush"
Distribution & Habitat:
Moist montane forest of the Sambirano region, Marojejy and Mantady, in Madagascar.
An attractive, medium sized, solitary palm with a green trunk and a green thru to bright orange crownshaft (hence the common name). The leaves have long thin, very evenly spaced, bright green leaflets.
The palm heart is eaten which is putting serious pressure on the populations, even within Marojejy and Mantady protected areas.
Sunny, moist, but well drained position. Probably not very cold tolerant.
