A hothouse with minimal heating to stop winter temperatures falling below 15°C greatly extends the range of tropical plants, including palms, that can be grown, [Fig. 15., Fig.16.] [Asterogyne martiana, Gronophyllum pinangoides] and also promotes rapid growth a flying start for those palms that are intended for the garden as soon as they are big enough.
