Syagrus 'Abre ojos'
Home

Distribution & Habitat:
Mexico.

Description:
A tall, attractive, solitary, partially plumose palm.

General:
A (probably) hybrid Syagrus from Mexico. The story behind it is that Bob Dejong was on a surfing trip in Mexico when he came upon this massive beauty growing behind a liquor store next to an ice machine. The palm was growing inside of a tire and got constant water from a leak in the tubing on the ice machine. Apparantly the leak kept a constant drip on the palm and Bob was able to get a few seeds.

Culture:
Sunny, moist, but well drained position.
