Java, and Sumatra

Habitat:
Lowland, swampy rainforest

Description:
An acaulescant clumping palm with long erect leaves up to 6m tall, and very spiny petioles. The leaflets are whitish underneath.

General:
Produces an edible fruit which is sweet, tho slightly tart, and has a brown, scaly skin. Commonly seen in south-east Asian markets.

Culture:
Warm, sheltered and very moist.
