Conservation Status:
Endangered

Habitat:
Confined to lowland open forest in Yagruma Terrace in the Mais region of Cuba.
No trees were found in 1990 search of the area, altho farmers report its continued existence.

For the last four decades, its habitat has been increasingly converted to coffee plantations.

Description:
Large attractive palm to about 20m, with a very solid trunk.
