Common Names:
Kermadec Nikau Palm

Distribution & Habitat:
Wet forest on Raoul Island in the Kermadec group, off the east coast of New Zealand.

Description:
It is distinguished from the normal R. baueri by having globose, glossy red fruit, about 12-16mm in diameter.

General:
Some claim that this palm should again be promoted to a seperate species, rather than just have varietal status.
