Distribution & Habitat:
Open forest and grassland in India.

Description:
A very tall, slender palm with recurving, plumose, glaucouse fronds. Very similar in appearance to P. canariensis , however much more slender, and faster growing. Typically has a swollen base, and retains the leaf bases on the trunk.

Culture:
Sunny, moist, but well drained position. Drought, and frost tolerant, and a very fast grower.
