Palms   Moratia cerifera

Synonymy: Basselinia glabrata Common Names: None Habitat: Moist rainforest of north-east La Grande-Terre, New Caledonia. Most common on the eastern slopes of Mt. Panie between 400 and 1,600m. Description: A tall palm to 20m with a prominantly ringed, brown trunk. Crownshaft is orange, with a thick white, waxy cover. General: Closely related to Cyphokentia . Culture: Moist, protected situation when small, becoming more sun tolerant as the plant grows.
