Rare Victorian Silver Mounted 'Coco de Mer'
Home

This is an extraordinary piece in excellent condition. The Coco de Mer is a very huge 'double-sided' nut found in the Seychelles. This one is 10 inches (25 cm) long! It is beautifully polished, and sits in a silver mount. Both tops lift off to reveal two silver capped glass scent bottles in a fine velvet-lined interior.

All the silver pieces are hallmarked, and this is truly a collector's item. It was made by the Army & Navy Co-operative Society of Victoria Street, London in 1891. The manager was Francis Bradford McCrea, and the company traded with Asia around the turn of the century - hence the access to the rare Coco de Mer.

Overall height on stand: 11 1/2 inches (29 cm)

Price: 3950
