Distribution & Habitat:
Madagascan rainforest.
Description:
A medium to large solitary, pinnate palm,
it is a much smaller palm in general than
L. halleuxii
it also does not have the bright maroon crownshaft,
and as a seedling it has a heavily tomentose petiole.
The seed is about half the size of that of L. halleuxii
seed,
and with the fruit on, it could be easily mistaken for a Bismarckia seed.
Culture:
Warm, sheltered and moist. Quite easily grown in sub-tropical/tropical areas.
