Found in lowland rainforests on Biak Island, off the north coast of West Papua, (the Indonesian part of New Guinea).Description:
A very attractive, medium sized palm with a slender trunk, a waxy crownshaft and broad leaves, with leaflets of irregular width. Its new leaves come out pink/bronze. Similar in appearance to H. beguinii , its main distinguishing features being its longer, stiffer leaflets, and its seeds are 3-4 times larger than H. beguinii .Culture:
Warm, sheltered and moist. Tropical in its requirements.
