About:
In 1982, Ruday Lasaga (a palm nurseryman in San Diego and now deceased) got seed from Lord Howe Island labelled as "Lepidorrhachis ". He grew them and called them "Lepidorrhachis ". Everyone agreed later this is not the case. It's felt to be a hybrid of unknown parents. It is most closely affiliated in appearance to H. forsteriana . It actually likes coastal sun. It is slow growing. It's been called everything from the "upright Howea" to the "grotesque Howea".

There are only a few around, but once you've seen one, you'll remember it. I am sure that this palm is from that batch. I've never seen them available or sold by anyone else since Rudy's were sold over 20 years ago. It much prefers sun.
