Distribution & Habitat:
Lowlying (often flooded) areas of French Guiana and Brazil.

Description:
A small, solitary or clumping, understory palm with simple, deeply ribbed leaves up to 2 metres long.

Culture:
Warm, sheltered and moist. Often found growing in inundated areas.
