Distribution & Habitat:
Open forest on limestone soils in Puerto Rico.

Description:
A tall (to about 20m) solitary, pinnate palm with a very swollen base, and a rather scrappy crown of leaves.

Culture:
Sunny, moist, but well drained position. Very slow, and intolerant of cold. Likes regular dressings of lime.
