Palms   Dypsis saintelucei

Synonymy: Unknown Common Names: Telopoloamvilany (local name) Distribution & Habitat: Littoral forests of south east Madagascar. Description: An attractive, medium sized, solitary palm with recurved, pinnate leaves, a tristichous leaf arrangement, a waxy, whitish crownshaft, and a closely ringed trunk. General: Critically endangered in habitat. The palm heart is popular with the locals for its eating qualities; its local name "Telopoloamvilany", means "30 people around the cooking pot". Culture: Sunny, moist, but well drained position.
