Distribution & Habitat:
Moist montane forest of the Sambirano region, Marojejy and Mantady,
in Madagascar.
Description:
An attractive, medium sized, solitary palm with a green trunk and
a green thru to bright orange crownshaft (hence the common name).
The leaves have long thin, very evenly spaced, bright green leaflets.
General:
The palm heart is eaten which is putting serious pressure on the populations,
even within Marojejy and Mantady protected areas.
Culture:
Sunny, moist, but well drained position.
Probably not very cold tolerant.
