Dypsis leptocheilos
|
|
|
Synonymy:
Dypsis darianii
Common Names:
Teddy Bear Palm,
Redneck
Habitat:
Madagascan rainforest
Description:
Medium/large feather palm to about 10m, with a very distinctive
reddish brown tormentum on the crownshaft and a white waxy trunk.
General:
A very popular palm in the tropics and sub-tropics.
Often confused with another palm also known as the Redneck
Dypsis lastelliana
. That palm gets a much darker crownshaft colouring,
however it is a much, much slower grower, so for most people
(i.e. non palm collectors) this is the prefered plant.
Culture:
An easily grown palm which likes full sun/light shade, and a moist,
well drained position.
