Distribution & Habitat:
Forests of India, Sri Lanka, and Burma.

Description:
Large, solitary palm, to about 20m, with a grey trunk, and gracefull, arching bipinnate leaves.

General:
These palms are monocarpic. They flower from the top down, and once the last fruit on the bottom inflorescence matures, the plant dies.

Culture:
Full sun in deep well drained soil. Will thrive even in warm temperate regions.
