American Oil palm

Distribution & Habitat:
Open forest in coastal Brazil.

Description:
A solitary palm, with a trunk up to 1 metre (3 feet) tall, (altho only on very old specimens), and pinnate leaves to 4 metres (12 feet) long, with long narow leaflets up to 0.9 metres (3 feet) long.

Cultivation:
Likes a sunny, moist position. Medium growth speed, altho the seeds are difficult to germinate. The most cold tolerant of the Attaleas.
