A large solitary pinnate palm with a "shuttlecock" type leaf arrangement.General:
Becoming very endangered in the wild, with less than 30 plants left in habitat. The plant is used extensively by the locals; the palm nut is a good source of fat and is used as a food and cooking oil, while the trunk is sometimes used in construction because of its durability.Culture:
Sunny, but well drained position. Doesn't like being overwatered.
