Distribution & Habitat:
Sandy, often very exposed coastal situations, Brazil.

Description:
A small palm to about 2m with a branching, subteranean trunk. Leaves are bright green above and silver below.

General:
The edible fruit is very popular amongst the locals.

Culture:
Requires a very sandy, well drained position in full sun.
